Practical Information

Getting Started

Treatments for cancers and blood disorders vary greatly. At El Portal Cancer Centers, your personalized cancer treatment includes an overview of the type of cancer, its stage and location, your general health, age, medical history and genetic makeup. You, your doctors and your care team will set a comprehensive treatment course to achieve the best possible outcome.

What to expect

As of January 2022, it is estimated that there are 18.1 million cancer survivors in the United States. This represents approximately 5.4% of the population. The number of cancer survivors is projected to increase by 24.4%, to 22.5 million, by 2032 as we continue to win the battle against cancer.

There are three phases of becoming a CANCER SURVIVOR, including:

  1. Diagnosis of your cancer: You become a ‘survivor’ at the time you are initially diagnosed with cancer. This phase is highlighted by our commitment to your education about your disease and the latest treatment options available, as well as supeerb personalized care from your team.
  2. Treatment of your cancer: During this phase, your individualized care plan is developed and implemented by your personal Team.
  3. Life after cancer: This may be the most important phase of being a survivor. Your team will assist you after your treatment is completed and tailored a plan that will allow you to resume your normal life.

Surviving Cancer

El Portal Cancer Centers are dedicated to providing patients with ongoing personalized care after treatment to help patients live to their fullest potential. Though many patients go on to lead very healthy, normal lives, we acknowledge that life may never be the same as it was before diagnosis. There can be long-term and late effects of chemotherapy and radiation, including on-going emotional stress, as well as the patient’s desire to prevent cancer recurrence. We work with you to direct you to the help you need.

What's next? Set up a consultation.

We understand that your time is extremely valuable.
